Statement of Faith
This is what Eastview Church believes and teaches.
For a shorter summary in plain words, read about us.
We Believe:
1. The Bible
The Bible is the inerrant, Holy Spirit inspired, Word of God.
2 Timothy 3:16–17
2. God
We believe The Trinity is made of God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit; three in one. God is holy, sovereign, loving, just, and faithful.
Isaiah 6:3, 1 Peter 1:2
3. Jesus Christ
Jesus Christ our Lord, is the son of God, both fully God and fully man. Born of the virgin Mary, He was sent to live amongst us, experiencing all human emotions while also living a sinless life. He died on a cross to forgive us of our sins and rose again three days later. He ascended to Heaven where He remains seated at the right hand of the Father. He is the one and only Savior of the world and will one day return for those who call Him Lord.
John 1:1–5, 14-18
4. The Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit dwells within every believer providing guidance, gifts, power and sanctification.
John 14:16–17
5. Humanity
God welcomes all of us to come as we are, meet Jesus, and experience His grace and be transformed. 2 Cor 12:9
God created all things in Heaven and Earth, including humans as man or woman. Men & women were created in God's image, fell to sin and need salvation through Jesus. Genesis 1:26–27
The sanctity of Christian Marriage is designed to be only between one man and one woman. Divorce grieves God's heart, and should be avoided at all costs, with the exception of irreconcilable differences in faith or the safety and security of one or both person(s). Matthew 19:4-6
Every human life is created in the image of God and is sacred from conception to natural death. Because every person bears God's image and is known and formed by God, all human life possesses inherent dignity and is worthy of protection, compassion, and respect.
Psalm 139:13–16
6. Salvation
Salvation is offered to all people by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. This is not attainable by works. The gift of salvation is available because of the victorious work of Jesus on the cross, which canceled our debt, giving us forgiveness and eternal life.
Ephesians 2:8–9
7. The Church
The church is the beloved bride of Christ, a universal body represented in the local church. The mission of the church is to worship God, make disciples, serve one another, and proclaim the gospel. The Holy Spirit has gifted both men and women, of all ages, to serve the church. Men and women are designed to compliment one another and ministry should reflect this.
Matthew 28:18–20; Acts 2:42–47; 1 Corinthians 12; 1 Timothy 4:12
8. Christian Living
All believers should seek to grow in holiness, with help from the Holy Spirit, through: understanding of scripture, obedience, love, service, stewardship, and evangelism. A disciple's life produces fruit.
James 1:22
9. The Return of Christ
Jesus will personally and visibly return, resurrecting the dead. We will each face a final judgment, giving account for our life. Jesus will cover our cost for sin. When Christ returns, those in relationship with Him will be raptured and taken to Heaven. Difficult years of tribulation will follow on Earth, allowing others to choose Jesus as Lord and Savior. A new heaven and new earth will be created where believers will live forever in perfect peace.
John 14:1–3; Revelation 21–22
10. Eternity
There is both Heaven and Hell. When our earthly life ends, we physically die. The last breath here for the believer, is also the first breath in Heaven. Our salvation in Heaven with God, for eternity, is sealed when we declare that we desire Jesus as Lord. Believers should live with the goal of hearing, “Well done, good and faithful servant”. Free will allows us to choose rather than be forced into a relationship we do not want. This means those not choosing life in Christ, are choosing eternity in Hell, experiencing eternal separation from God. This grieves God and should move every believer to evangelize.
John 3:16; Revelation 20:11–15; Deut 30:19; Romans 10:9
